2 YEARS!

I can't believe I started this blog 2 years ago this month! It has been a great way to mark the time passing and to record some things that I might not have remembered. I have met a lot of nice Bloggers out there in Blog-land and have learned a lot.
I think this coming year will have more changes than just my making the move to another state. Moving from Virginia to Florida was a big move, one I will never regret. I have already seen more of my family (they live close by now) than I did in the last 10 years.
Thanks for stopping by my Blog and for posting comments, it has been a great journey!

I envy you for making the leap to move to Florida, especially during this time of year when I'm freezing my toes off...LOL.

Hi I was looking up tropical decor and I found this site.. I absolutely love it!!! Ever since I went to St. lucia for our honeymoon, I became obsessed with the tropical/global look. It feels like a vacation in your own home. Keep the ideas coming!

Tam,
Ya I am so glad I did it! I used to live in Fort Lauderdale, this area is a bit cooler, by 5-8 degrees each day, can live with that! WE can't wait to explore gardening! We are in no rush to find a house. We needed a break! great seeing you! Thanks for leaving a comment, I have been a bit MIA from boards and Blog, spending time on FB with grandkids and family having FUN for a change!

Thanks Monika!
I love tropical decor, and now that I live in Florida, I will explore that look so much more... VA didn't appreciate it, who cares, right?

How about I live in NJ, and tropical does not fit into this state whatsoever. But yes who cares what they say! Better than the cold and institutional look of "contemporary" or worse "modern" design! yuck! Where do you get inspiration from? I tried the bookstore but, there's nothing tropical there.

Monika,
well, I feel the same way about modern. I love the clean lines, but have spent time in those cold rooms and don't care for the 'empty' feeling they give. They are designed to not give away any of the informal information (personal) of the one who lives there, so it is great in formal settings or where you have clients over to your house and don't want to give too much away about yourself!

Monika,
to ansower your question about the tropical look. First of all I did live in Fort Lauderdale for 13 years prior to my move to VA. So, I am returning to Florida! There are no books in my library (nor in the VA libraries) about tropical decor. I just fell in love with palm trees from first sight. So, that was a start.
Look online at real estate for sale and view models of new homes online, that helped me a lot in keeping it from looking like a hut on an island, which I love too!

You have to live in the environment and don't need raffia and bamboo all over, so clean surfaces for living and cleaning and allergy dust free. Then you need good lighting. Good furniture that is comfortable, none of those items need to be tropical. You can do colors and accessories.

I collect photos of tropical (what it means to me) colors like my color studies. Then I can play off them. So, any greens would work, but the reds tend to be coral or true. The blues are like the ocean, and the yellows like in the sunshine or sunsets.

I would love to see some motivational photos you collect and I can share some, just click on 'email me' on this blog! Great sharing tropical with you!
